The National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29th August each year and it is the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand Singh, the hockey player, who not only put his stamp on the field of international Hockey arena but also helped his nation achieve glory by bringing Olympic Gold for his country time and again.

Keeping the principles of co-operation and sportsmanship in mind, we added a touch of service and friendship to our celebration of National Sports Day this year. Our geckos from grade 6-10 spent their morning in games with children from the Borabatla village, a village we have set our heart on making a part of our community.

Through sports events like Kho-Kho matches for the girls and Kabaddi matches for junior and senior boys, love for fitness, agility, skills as also newer friendships were nurtured.

To show our appreciation and encouragement to the children, they were awarded certificates in the presence of Mrs. Hema Surapaneni, the Pincipal of The Gaudium School and the Principal of the Borabatla Govt. School.

The celebration ended with distribution of sweets as refreshment. The children were beaming with joy at the end of the event and it was indeed a sight to watch as it all came to completion on a sweet note.

Learning outcome:  importance of sportsmanship and co-operation was made to be experienced by our geckos along with some fun and frolic
