The geckos of Grades 9 to 12 were very fortunate to have with them Ms Bina Kothari on the morning of 9th September 2020, virtually, as the guest speaker in The Gaudium School’s series of ‘Talking Titans’. It was wondrous and truly illuminating for the high school students to listen to her as she took her audience through her beautiful journey of life which is absolutely motivational in implanting the seeds of hard work and determination to succeed. The geckos listened in awe and by the end of the event were filled with immense positivity and inspiration. With the substantial food for thought from her brilliant narrative, they forged ahead ready to take on the day and the world ahead!
Ms. Bina Kothari is a multi-faceted personality and a motivating mentor. She is an ambitious, goal-oriented and highly successful CPA and CA by profession, a patient and a protective mother at heart. She is a fierce entrepreneur who has made a sensational start to her international career as VP-Finance with clients from the US. A fitness fanatic, she is also the owner of a franchise of Sportybeans – a sports and fitness program for 3-6 years old. Her address let the audience walk with her on her journey of life and her milestones. She reiterated the motivational facts of working hard and giving your hundred percent to the present without thinking of the results ahead. Results are bound to happen, while many circumstances may not be in one’s hands or in favour, but one has to keep going, strive hard and give his/her full efforts- magic will happen in its due course. Her life story is a story of wonder, achievement and success standing tall in the male-dominated industry. She strived and studied for relevant professional certifications and kept herself up to date career-wise- a story of utter grit and determination. Achieving a major milestone in her life on becoming a mother of two children and juggling family and office life, she had to take the hard decision of leaving her highly successful job to make time for family. The industrious nature within her sought to do more and soon she started with her own consulting company which she successfully runs as she takes care of her family and herself. The insatiable hunger kept her achieving for more as she delved to look for her passion which she found in young children. She soon started Sportybeans- targeted for 3-6-year old children. Giving back to society also enthuses her, as she helps so-called unsuccessful candidates in achieving success by hand-holding them and mentoring them to success in her field.
She advised the geckos to ask questions, have an insatiable quest for forging ahead, and to make use of time productively. Instead of lamenting and feeling sad about any time or condition which is not in control, one has to accept the reality and forge ahead working hard positively. She counselled the geckos to think of this time of the pandemic as an opportunity as they would get the precious time of working on their weaker areas. She recommended the geckos to have fun and play along with studies but to time their activities well. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Ratna Das, the high school English facilitator, who expressed on behalf of all of us at Gaudium, what a true pleasure it was to have her as a guest speaker to inspire us, break those self-inspired barriers and rise up to action.
