As a part of the inquiry about Biodiversity under the theme Sharing Planet, students of grade 4 went to the Botanical Garden at Kothaguda. They were given the opportunity to observe, collect information and experience the diversity of species. They saw a variety of plant species, read their scientific names, and came up with words like ecosystem, biomes, biotic, habitat, abiotic, species and environment.

They visited the Cactus Garden and saw a variety of cactus plants which helped them make real-life connections with a variety of species. The students further defined the term biodiversity and shared examples.  They read about the uses of different plants and connected them to the importance of protecting the ecosystems.  This helped students develop critical thinking and extend their learning to the real world to take meaningful actions.
