“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.”~ John.F.Kennedy

The word, ‘prefect’ means, a leader or a monitor. The Student Prefect Council is a governing body of elected students who get a chance to work closely with the management of the school. This year geckos got an opportunity to experience the Student Prefect Council election procedures.

The elected  students get an opportunity to experience election procedures, leadership,   and to organize and carry out school activities and service projects and thus polish their organizational skills. In addition to this, planning events that contribute to the school’s spirit and community welfare would be their responsibility.

AT The Gaudium we followed the standardised procedures of election – the first step was that the candidates nominate themselves for different positions open with the Council. The positions are generally pre-decided. Then the nominees have to go through a comprehensive selection procedure that consists of Aptitude Test, Group Discussion, Manifesto Presentation, Interview and finally Voting. Filtering happens at every round.   The selection procedures were planned considering the age and class of the geckos.

The Student Prefect Council procedures were completed across the boards at The Gaudium  between 21-25 June. The Investiture Ceremony would take place in the month of July.
