As the “Program of Inquiry” topic is “Season’s” and the “Line of Inquiry” being food we eat in different seasons, PP1 had discussed the kind of food we eat in summer season and its nutrition.

Nutritionally, the lemon constitutes one of the nature’s seven top sources of potassium, a mineral that promotes clear thinking, aids in normalizing blood pressure, and works with sodium to regulate the body’s water balance. To this day, the British Navy requires ships to carry enough lemons so that every sailor can have one ounce of lemon juice a day. Fresh squeezed lemon in a glass of water is said to cleanse the liver. Lemons are also believed to stimulate the metabolism.

STUDENT ACTION: The geckos were asked to share the kind of food they prefer in summer season and why?. The children were very excited to make the lemonade and did enjoy the citrus fragrance of the fruit lemon. The geckos felt the texture of lemon and learnt how to squeeze the lemon, and then they added sugar to it and made fantastic lemonade. The geckos had the lemonade and enjoyed the day with fun and learning too.

LEARNING OUTCOME: The geckos were very excited to know about the different seasons and the kind of food we eat. The geckos acquired knowledge on different seasons and shared their preferable food in a specific season. The children learnt how to prepare lemonade and practically prepared it. They squeezed a lemon and added sugar to it and enjoyed the citrus juice of lemon. They also acquired knowledge on the nutrients of lemon and its endowment to our health.
