‘A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way’. John C. Maxwell

The student council is a leading body of elected students, who get a chance to work closely with the school leaders and students to translate the vision into reality. This year, the students had the opportunity to experience the student council election process in the physical environment.

At the Gaudium, we follow a consistent and a standardized procedure for the PYP Student council election. The process started with the students of Grade 5 nominating themselves for different positions followed by them being interviewed by a panel of teacher. This process lead to the choice of top 4 candidates for the positions of House prefects, Sports prefects and cultural prefects. The selected members were asked to give a speech and persuade their house members, both staff and students to cast a vote for them. Finally, on 21st July, the students of Grade 1 – 5 as well as the teachers voted for their leaders.  The process of the student council was completed in 2 weeks.

We wish the new council members all the best for their role and look forward to greater collaboration to take this forward!
