The School is a home away from home; to make the geckos explore this feeling of warmth of a family at school and to develop the emotional, social skills and enhance their life skills, the Gaudium school organized a “Night camp” on 29 November 2019.

The teachers welcomed the children as they walked through the school gate and each was led inside. The spark on their faces seemed special. We started off with the warm welcome greetings from our principals and the coordinators and then followed by inter- tribe matches. It was a great fun to watch the geckos competing with each other. The oneness and the team spirit are a delight to watch.

Around 6pm, we moved to the area where an evening snack awaited us. Happily, the children gorged on chaats- dahi puri, bhel puri, samosa chaat, sweets etc. The geckos had a “fun-tastic” evening. There were series of fun-filled activities such as treasure hunt, dance and music, master chef competitions, bed making etc. They made their beds, washed their plates, served dinner to the staff and sub – staff in fact the geckos were so excited that they competed to accomplish the work and it was a treat to watch them work independently. A hearty dinner followed by a movie ‘Mission Mangal’. Then the geckos retired to bed in dreamland with their friends and teachers.

The aim was to make the children independent, bond well with their peers and educators and enjoy new activities filled with values.

As said by Mark Richardson “Right values produce right thoughts. Right thoughts produce right actions”.

Values are important because they help us to grow and develop. They help us to create the future we want to experience. When we use our values to make decisions, we make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us. When values are shared, they build internal cohesion in a group.

Thus, we the team of Gaudium put all our efforts to inculcate these values in the minds of our geckos in a fun- filled and creative way. We mainly emphasized on these five values- Integrity, Empathy, Respect, Gratitude and Perseverance which are very essential for any individual to excel in life. To encourage and keep them motivated, points were allotted to each tribe who practiced imbibing these values.

Next morning, the geckos seemed happy and refreshed and responded readily to a ‘good morning!’. They freshened up, brushed and got ready for a morning jog and exercise. After the jogging and exercise session, hungry and exhausted, the students were ready to devour a hot breakfast. At 9:00 am to 9:30 am the geckos from each tribe presented to the parents the importance of the values which they tried to practice and follow shouting out the slogans of their tribes. The parents were filled with joy to see their children perform and speak about the values they learnt.

The geckos with a reluctant heart bid goodbye to their teachers and friends. It was an event that the geckos really enjoyed and bagged all the sweet memories to cherish all through their life.
