The Gaudium family of Cambridge International (CI) segment gathered together on the 9th of February 2021 to celebrate the World Read Aloud Day!

For 12 years, World Read Aloud Day has called attention to the importance of sharing stories by challenging participants to grab a book, find an audience, and read-aloud!

On this dynamic day dedicated to spreading the love of reading, we acknowledged the crowning glories of Gaudium, our aspiring writers! Instead of reading aloud great writers’ stories, our own geckos read aloud their masterpieces.

The programme commenced with an address by a wonderful orator and a tremendous dramatist, Mr Prithvi Sinha, HOD of the English department, who shared his thoughts on the occasion. Mr Prithvi stated that a life without books is like a ship without a rudder.

The budding writers of the Gaudium School exhibited the power of pen.  First in this series was Anandi, an aspiring gecko from Grade 6A CI who shared one of her original creations. Aditi Reddy from Grade 6A CI, a lyrical poet who loves to juggle similes, metaphors and rhymes, recited a poem written by her.

Students from the Hindi department read their magic of ‘Kabir ke Dohe’ and many such other unique writings. Vasundhara of Grade 7 CI read aloud about the hush world of gossip! In this series of our writers exhibiting their masterpieces, Advik of Grade 8 CI took us to the nail-biting world of FBI dramas!

Ms Shalini Singh Hamilton, Principal of CBSE and CI, who is a voracious reader and an exemplary speaker gave away the valuable lesson that ‘Reading maketh a man.’ Ms Sunitha Indukuri, the CI Coordinator, her wise words reminded us of the age-old saying that we get wiser with age.

This refreshing show lit the wish to read aloud in every little heart assembled there. In addition, the language classes took the spirit forward by conducting various read aloud activities.
