Language shapes the way we think and determines what we can think about.” – Benjamin Lee Whorf

This quote by Benjamin Lee Whorf encapsulates the profound influence of language on our cognitive processes and perceptions of the world. Language serves as a fundamental tool for communication, allowing us to express our thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

The Gaudium School strongly emphasizes promoting cultural diversity and fostering a sense of unity and belonging among its students and teachers. The International Mother Language Special Assembly held on 22nd February for MYP students aimed to highlight the richness of linguistic diversity and celebrate the diverse languages.

We celebrated a diversity of languages from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Korean, Bengali and many more. Both students and teachers presented beautiful poems, songs, dances and also shared the significance of learning the mother tongue.

This celebration is in alignment with our school’s language policy, which deeply respects mother languages and encourages all students to become fluent in them.  By embracing linguistic diversity and promoting fluency in mother tongues, we strive to empower our students to not only communicate effectively but also to connect with their cultural heritage on a profound level.

Through events like the International Mother Language Special Assembly, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every language is valued and celebrated.
As we reflect on this celebration, we’re reminded of the values of inclusivity, respect, and cultural appreciation that form the foundation of The Gaudium School creating an inclusive environment where every language is honored and cherished.
