Career counselling is a necessary aspect for identifying the real potential and in selecting a career which is in tune with the students’ skill and interests. The primary focus of Gaudium’s competent career counselling team is to help students choose their right career option. Ms. Mahitha Sammeta conducted a Virtual Educational Fair on 29th August 2020 to help the students know about the various reputed international universities and dwell deep on the nuances of their academic requirements, application procedures and the advantages offered by them. The session helped the students have a deeper knowledge of the respective universities presented in the virtual fair.
There were ten universities which participated in the fair which was also collaborated by ICAE. They included the University of Ottawa (Canada), University of Waterloo (Canada), University of Victoria (Canada), Lake head University (Canada), University of Windsor (Canada), O P Jindal Global University (India), Atria University (India), Istituto Marangoni (London-Milan-Paris-Mumbai), Trinity College (Dublin) and the ESSEC Business School (France). The session started with the introduction of the universities’ representatives which was followed by detailed explanations of the programs which are offered by each university, scholarship opportunities provided and the description of the region where the universities are located at. Each of the university representatives clarified the doubts and explained the admission procedures, and dates to submit the applications for next year. The students found out that merit scholarships are awarded by every one of these elite universities when the students are good academically. The Canadian universities present at the fair emphasized on their ‘Coop programs’ which ensured that the students got the opportunity for internship along with their academic curriculum. The geckos participated enthusiastically in the Virtual Fair as they also raised questions and clarified their queries. Many of them wanted to know whether SAT is an absolute requirement, to which they came to know that most of the Canadian universities would value it if the applicant has appeared for it.
Our aspiring champions had a productive time equipping themselves for the future as they absorbed all the details provided in the WebiFair. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks and the participants were beaming happily about the session.
