Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world. – Malala Yousafzai

World Literacy Day is celebrated on 8th September and we at Gaudium keeping the theme ”Literacy and Multilingualism” engaged our Geckos through  “DEAR ” program , an independent reading activity where every member of the school community be it adults or students is seen dropping the current activity and picking a book of their choice to read during the allotted slots. The objective of the DEAR activity is to generate interest for reading, value the beauty of knowledge in the book ,  identify the importance of peaceful and focussed reading which can be easily adapted to everyday routine.

It was a wonderful sight to see the Geckos immersed in books.

The Gaudium celebrated international Literacy Day on 8 September 2019 with the quote “Literacy and Multilingualism”.
The geckos of Grade 6 to Grade 11 took part in the celebration to mark the importance of the day.

The geckos along with their teachers celebrated this day by engaging in a reading activity – DEAR – Drop Everything and Read, an independent and exclusive reading activity for all the students in their respective classrooms in their allotted slots of one period where they could realize the importance of reading for better fluency and vocabulary by making space for reading activity everyday.
