The Gaudium celebrated a three day event promoting the Language diversity on campus. Classroom is a mix of students who are bilingual; converse fluent in their mother tongue, learning English as medium of instruction, and learning a foreign language French, Hindi or Telugu. Diversity of languages and cultures is growing and language is the main component of early literacy development. Teaching different languages involves more than just teaching them the alphabet. Teaching children techniques for communicating with someone who speaks a different language helps them feel prepared and have fewer conflicts. The goal is to find ways to incorporate, emphasise, support the value of each language, understand diversity and provide opportunity to celebrate language and culture that reflects throughout the classroom and beyond. To achieve this goal, Gaudium is celebrating the Linguistic Diversity where students can showcase their learning’s.
Telugu Day: The common adage goes: “desha bhashalandhu Telugu lesaa” which in English literally means Telugu is the sweetest among the languages of our country. A language that is known to exist since 400 BCE, also known as “ The Italian of the East” where every single word ends with vowel sound, that has the 2nd best script in the world and the only language with most number of Saamethalu i.e., idioms and proverbs. Our Geckos have the pleasure to learn the regional language and on the occasion of the Telugu Day the week long learning was showcased. The importance of Telugu language was emphasised by Nandana of grade 9. Geckos sang mesmerising Shlokas “Gurur Brhama” Shulkam Vrdaram” “Ganesh Sthuthi” by Grade 1 and 3, melodious Tyagaraja Keerthana recited by Dhanush of Grade 9, the Vemenna and Sumathi nethi padyalu recited by grade 2 students. A short comedy with message on Swatch Bharath skit called “Bone lo Doma” was played by grade 4 students where the mosquitoes defend themselves by saying that they feed on human blood as it is their source of food but they are not the culprits who are spreading the diseases. It is the Human’s that keep their environment dirty that causes the bacteria and virus to grow and multiply thus making the mosquitoes as vectors. The program ended with the Barathnatyam dance by the geckos of grade 7 to showcase the Telugu traditions of celebrating an auspicious occasions.
French Day: French is the second most widely learned foreign language after English, and the sixth most widely spoken language in the world. French is also the only language, alongside English, that is taught in every country. French is the international language of cooking, fashion, theatre, the visual arts, dance and architecture. It is both working and an official language of the UN, NATO, Olympic Games, and Red Cross, for travel and tourism and for higher education. The Gaudium offers French as optional foreign language to our Geckos from Grade 1 to 9. On the occasion of French Day our Geckos of Grade 1 to 9 conducted the assembly session shedding information on the importance of French language. Popular French rhymes such as “Alouette, gentille alouette” “Trois petits chats” , songs on verb conjugation and Love for Mother were sung by the French students . Grade 5 students performed a funny skit on Eating Habit: with a message to avoid eating Junk food” which the kids enjoyed although it was the foreign language because of the expressions made by the performers. The higher grade students narrated an inspiring story of “Andrew Carnegie” a Scottish boy who migrated to America to become the largest steel manufacturer. Since he had many people working for him Mr. Carnegie’s quotes “Dealing with people is a lot like digging for gold. When you go digging for an ounce of gold you have to move tons of dirt. But when you go digging, you don’t go looking for the dirt. You go looking for the gold.” The story ends with a message “though sometimes it may not be apparent there is something positive in every person and every situation. We have to dig deep to look for the positive”.
Hindi Divas : Middle School Grades 6 to 9
हिन्दी दिवस गुरुवार 14 सितम्बर 2017 को पूरे भारत में बड़े ही धूम धाम से मनाया गया गोडियम विद्यालय में भी हिन्दी दिवस को बडी धूम –धाम से मनाया गया । दिन की शुरुआत आठवी कक्षा के विद्यार्थियों द्वारा शिष्टाचार के शब्दों को स्कूल बोर्ड पर लिख कर की गई जिसके अंतरगत बच्चों ने कई शब्द जैसे नमस्कार ,बैठिए , सुप्रभात आदि शब्दों को लिखा । इस दिन को और यादगार बनाने के लिए गोडियम के गेककोस ने बड़ी मेहनत की और एक कार्यक्रम को तेयार किया। जिसमें कक्षा आठ के विद्यार्थी अभिजीत ने हिन्दी दिवस का महत्व बताते हुये कार्यक्रम को प्रारम्भ किया गया । कक्षा नवी के विद्यार्थी जेसिका और यश ने रवीन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर द्वारा रचित where the mind is without fear स्कूल की प्रार्थना का fusion कर उसे पहले अंग्रेज़ी में गाया फिर हिन्दी में गाया । जिसे सभी ने सराहा । कार्यक्रम को आगे बढ़ाते हुये अभिजीत ने बताया की हिन्दी संस्कृत की बेटी और सभी भाषाओं की बड़ी बहन भी हैं ।छठी कक्षा के गेक्कोस ने अपने नृत्य के माध्यम से समझाया कि जिस तरह कई नृत्य मिल कर एक सुंदर नृत्य बना सकते हैं । उसी तरह यदि हिन्दी को दूसरी भाषा का सहयोग मिल जाए तो हिन्दी को राष्ट्र भाषा बनने से कोई रोक नहीं सकता । सत्यमेव जयते के गीत पर बच्चों ने बड़े उत्साह से अपनी बात को दर्शको को समझाया ।
अभिजीत ने मातृ भाषा तथा देश के लिए राष्ट्र भाषा के महत्व को बताते हुये कहा कि कोई भी देश तभी आगे बढ़ सकता जब उस देश के पास अपनी भाषा हो । रूस ,जापान चीन आदि देश अपनी भाषा में काम करते लेकिन भारत इस क्षेत्र में पीछे रह गया और अंग्रेज़ी को अपनी पहली पसंद बना रहे हैं इसी बात को कक्षा आठ के विद्यार्थियों ने एक नाटिका के जरिये समझाया।
“ द गोडियम विद्यालय “ एक ऐसा विद्यालय जहाँ भाषा के विकास के साथ – साथ विद्यार्थी के सम्पूर्ण विकास जैसे empathy-सद्भाव knowledge-सुशिक्षित respect-सम्मान को विकसित करने का भी प्रयास किया जाता हैं । हमारी प्रधानाचार्य श्रीमति हेमा सुर्पनेनी का सपना और विद्यालय की ओर से चलाये जा रहे “gecko fund” जिसके अंतरगत गोडियम के विद्यार्थी under privileged बच्चों की मदद करते हैं । gecko fund को कक्षा सातवी के विद्यार्थियों ने अपने नृत्य के जरिये समझाया ।
कार्यक्रम के अंत में प्रधानाचार्या श्रीमति हेमा ने अपने अनुभव को विद्यार्थियों के साथ सांझा किया । जहाँ उन्होने अपनी चीन की यात्रा के अनुभव को गेक्कोस को बताया। श्रीमति हेमा ने, बच्चों को अपनी भाषा सीखने पर बल दिया । कार्यक्रम का समापन राष्ट्र गान के साथ हुआ । “एक राष्ट्र एक भाषा “ जय हिन्द ।
हिन्दी दिवस उत्सव 2017 PYP Grades 1 to 5
हर साल की तरह इस साल भी हिन्दी दिवस का आयोजन 14 सितम्बर को हमारे विध्यालय में बड़े उत्साह के साथ मनाया गया । कार्यक्रम की शुरुवात माननीय अतिथि श्रीमति हेमा सुरपेननी और माननीय प्रबन्धक श्रीमति कीर्ति रेड्डी के स्वागत साथ हुई । जिसके अंतर्गत विध्यार्थियों द्वारा सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किए गए । कार्यक्रम का आरंभ गणेश वंदना के द्वारा किया गया । हिन्दी दिवस कार्यक्रम को आगे जारी रखते हुये कक्षा 3 के छात्र द्वारा हिन्दी के इतिहास पर प्रकाश डाला गया तथा हिन्दी भाषा का महत्व बताते हुये , हिन्दी हमारी राष्ट्र भाषा है और प्रत्येक भारतीय को इसका विध्यार्थियों को हिन्दी बोलने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया गया

कक्षा 1 छात्रों ने अपने सुंदर स्वर से हिन्द देश के निवासी गीत के द्वारा सभा को समोहित किया
कक्षा 1 के विध्यार्थियों ने हिन्दी नारो का उचारण कर सभा को हिन्दी भाषा के प्रति जाग्रत किया । इसके पश्चात समय का महत्व बताते हुए कक्षा 4 और 5 के विध्यार्थियों ने एक छोटी सी नाटिका “मूल्यवान वस्तु“ प्रस्तुत किया जिसके द्वारा विध्यार्थियों संदेश दिया कि इस संसार में सबसे मूल्यवान वस्तु समय है और नाटिका का समापन “काल करे सो आज” दोहे के साथ किया । कार्यक्रम का समापन राष्ट्रीय-गीत और प्रधानाचार्या जी के अनमोल संदेश के साथ हुआ ।
