“Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.” ~ Rita Mae Brown

We at The Gaudium promote home and family languages and our students are allowed to express themselves in their home and family language. We believe in the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity. We celebrated International Mother Language Day on 21st February 2023. The idea of celebrating International Mother Language Day was the initiative of Bangladesh. It was approved at the 1999 UNESCO General Conference and has been observed throughout the world since 2000.

Multilingual and multicultural societies exist through their languages which transmit and preserve traditional knowledge and cultures in a sustainable way. We  celebrated the International Mother Language Day from Grades Nursery to 5, where students introduced themselves in their home and family language and were further given the choice of sharing a story/song/poem in their home and family language. They were also given the choice to describe a picture in their home and family language.

It was a memorable experience for all the students and teachers to communicate with each other in their home and family language.
