The BEST way to PREDICT the FUTURE is to DESIGN it. – Buckminster Fuller

In connection to their inquiry on “Energy”, Grade 5 geckos have visited Godrej green building on 23rd March, 2017 to enhance their learning about the Responsibility of humans to conserve energy. The Green Business Center in Hyderabad is housed in one of the greenest buildings in the world and through Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is spearheading the Green Building movement in the country. The Green Business Center was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the President of India on 14 July 2004. The geckos understood that a green building is one which uses less water, optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building. The geckos have exhibited their communication skills as they interacted with Mr. Aman who guided the geckos throughout the visit showing them the methods and ways they adopt to conserve energy. The geckos asked many questions related to transformation of energy and its conservation. They were surprised to learn that the doors were made out of the waste of sugarcane. They saw that the pillars of the building were decorated with the broken tiles. The rooms in the building get sufficient Diffused Daylight for all areas through recessed courtyards and North light Glazing. The geckos were amazed about their learning on the ways to conserve energy. It was a Life time learning experience for all the geckos!
