PP2 geckos are learning about 3Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle. Recycling is the process of turning waste and used items into new, useful materials or products. This not only gives the old items a new lease of life, it also reduces the amount of raw material used to make new things from scratch.Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. … Recyclable materials include many kinds of glass, paper, and cardboard, metal, plastic, tires, textiles, and electronics. Recycling is the practice of reusing items that would otherwise be discarded as waste. Variations of recycling include upcycling, which involves adding value to an item for reuse, and downcycling, which involves breaking down an item or substance into its component elements to reuse anything that can be salvaged.

Recycling conserves natural resources, saves energy, protects the environment, reduces landfill. To reinforced the concept, facilitators presented a puppet show of the story ‘ Hare and the tortoise’. They along with the geckos prepared hare with old socks and tortoise with egg trays. They demonstrated different ways in which old things can be recycled and put to use. Geckos enjoyed the puppet show very much. Geckos were very enthusiastic for the puppet show. Later they reflected upon the story and the items used.
