In the rapidly evolving landscape of the 21st-century job market, guiding high school students through the maze of potential career paths is more critical than ever before. It is essential that students in their formative years are exposed to global opportunities and diverse industries to make informed decisions about their futures. Recognizing this need, we were delighted to welcome SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern, one of Switzerland’s leading institutions for hotel management education, for an exclusive career orientation session. This initiative was specifically curated for our Grade 10, 11, and 12 students, coming at a pivotal time when they are actively exploring their collegiate and professional trajectories.

To make sound career choices, students must look towards institutions that offer not just degrees, but legacies of excellence and practical application. SHL stands as a prime example of such prestige. Established in 1909, it is one of the two original hotel management schools in Switzerland, a country synonymous with luxury and service. The institution continues to set global standards in hospitality learning. During the session, students learned about SHL’s internationally recognised Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, a rigorous program offered in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences Lucerne (HSLU), which blends academic depth with the hands-on expertise required in the modern workforce.

The efficacy of career counseling relies heavily on the credibility and experience of the mentors involved. We were privileged to have the session facilitated by Mr. Santhosh K. Mrinalini, the Founder & Managing Director of LE Sash Hospitality Services and an Admissions Officer for SHL Luzern, Switzerland. His presence provided our students with a direct link to industry leaders, moving the conversation beyond theoretical advice into actionable intelligence. By interacting with a professional who navigates the admissions and operational sides of the industry, students gained clarity on what top-tier universities look for in prospective candidates.

Mr. Santhosh’s profile served as a powerful case study for the students, illustrating that a career in hospitality is a global passport to diverse experiences. With over 20 years of international experience spanning Switzerland, India, and Southeast Asia, he brought a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. He shared real-world insights drawn from Swiss fine dining, strategic education partnerships, and his work with iconic global hospitality brands including Taj Hotels, ITC, Marriott, EHL Lausanne, and SHL Luzern. This narrative helped students understand that choosing a career is about selecting a journey that offers growth, travel, and cross-cultural engagement.

Ultimately, the goal of such sessions is to transform uncertainty into ambition. Mr. Santhosh’s journey and expertise captivated our learners, offering them a first-hand glimpse into the evolving and dynamic world of hospitality careers. By hearing success stories and understanding the rigor of institutions like SHL, our students are better equipped to evaluate their aptitudes and interests. This session was not merely an informational talk; it was a strategic step in empowering our students to choose their paths with confidence, backed by the reality of global standards and professional excellence.
